Job Overview

The Evening Custodial Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring exceptional service to the Bethel community by overseeing all custodial duties during the evening shift for the College Academic buildings. This position involves organizing, prioritizing, and delegating tasks to both staff and student custodians, while also collaborating with custodial team members to adhere to the cleaning standards established by the Facilities Management department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the custodial team in providing outstanding service to all stakeholders.
  • Regularly engage with community members to confirm their satisfaction with services provided.
  • Supervise custodial staff, student workers, and contracted cleaning personnel in executing daily cleaning operations.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign tasks to evening custodial staff, adjusting assignments as necessary for special situations or urgent cleaning needs.
  • Participate in regular meetings with management and fellow custodial supervisors to enhance communication, planning, training, and workload prioritization.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of custodial staff, addressing any performance or behavioral issues that arise.
  • Oversee the cleaning and upkeep of academic facilities, ensuring compliance with the standards set by the Facilities Management manager.
  • Focus on maintaining cleanliness in high-traffic and visible areas to enhance the experience of guests and students.
  • Optimize the use of staff time, equipment, and resources to meet established cleaning schedules and deadlines.
  • Support the Bethel community by addressing work orders, responding to custodial emergencies, and completing assigned projects promptly.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for cleaning equipment, methods, and performance standards to enhance the efficiency of the cleaning program.
  • Coordinate with management and custodial staff to prepare event spaces, utilizing event management software to meet specific requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of event spaces to ensure cleanliness standards are upheld during events.
  • Ensure that restrooms and common areas are well-stocked and maintained throughout events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in custodial services.
  • Proficient in operating cleaning machinery, including floor scrubbers and vacuums.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and team building to provide superior service to the Bethel community.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Information

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • This role is essential and may require availability outside of standard hours for emergency situations or special events.
  • Compliance with environmental health and safety regulations is mandatory.
  • Full-time position, with overtime as required.
  • Compensation: $22/hour.
