Shift Type: Night Shift
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Services department is responsible for delivering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process in alignment with established standards and practices in a critical care setting. This role requires the ability to identify, prioritize, assess, and effectively manage life-threatening medical situations.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Emergency Room
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking abilities and decisive judgment are essential.
- Capability to operate with minimal supervision in a high-pressure environment.
- Must demonstrate the ability to take appropriate actions in stressful situations.
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of employment.
- Handle with Care training within one year of employment.
- Completion of Conscious Sedation competency within 90 days of employment.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or possess Compact licensure that includes Virginia, in good standing with the Board.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Room setting is strongly preferred.
Ability to regularly accept on-call duties and respond to the hospital within a 30-minute timeframe is required.
