Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Financial Accountant will take charge of the organization's accounting responsibilities. This includes maintaining the chart of accounts, preparing journal entries, conducting account reconciliations, developing financial statements, and performing variance analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, focusing on enhancing cost efficiency and streamlining processes across the company. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential due to regular interactions with senior management. The Financial Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the ERP platform (NetSuite) to optimize accounting processes.
  • Execute financial and cost accounting tasks within the department.
  • Oversee month-end closing procedures to guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist management in formulating annual budgets and conducting regular forecasts.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Promptly notify management of any compliance issues or financial concerns.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure its accuracy.
  • Code invoices, establish new accounts, reconcile accounts, and finalize monthly financial records.
  • Support external auditors by supplying necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local filing requirements.
  • Safeguard financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience is essential, preferably in a project-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with the Percent Complete revenue recognition method is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, tax regulations, and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, is advantageous.
  • Proficient in advanced MS Excel functions, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Solid experience with general ledger operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
