Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Speech Language Pathologist for our Kansas City, KS region. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality treatment for speech and language disorders, including difficulties with sound production, understanding, and communication. Assessment and treatment may focus on language skills (listening, talking, reading, writing), cognition (attention, memory, sequencing, planning, time management, problem-solving), motor speech abilities, articulation, and conversational skills. Additionally, therapy can address issues related to swallowing, respiration, and voice.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Implement Minds Matter, LLC's philosophical principles in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Evaluate consumers' mental abilities, analyze medical data, and determine the best methods and strategies for therapies.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, daily notes, letters of medical necessity, and other relevant records.
  • Integrate employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with consumers and professional staff to assess goal progress.
  • Attend team meetings and assist consumers in setting goals.
  • Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer's authorized plan of care.
  • Select and utilize adaptive equipment and/or augmentative alternative communication devices for home and community environments.
  • Work directly with consumers to improve skills in various aspects of life goals.
  • Document sessions with consumers on the day of service, ensuring concise, factual, and clear records.
  • Educate and train families and caregivers about brain injury strategies and techniques, and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed.
  • Attend workshops and training sessions to maintain up-to-date knowledge and evidence-based practices.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with consumers, coworkers, referral agents, and representatives from other community agencies and services.
  • Promote public relations throughout the agency and community for the program.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to serve on agency and interagency task groups as requested.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintain care and upkeep of Minds Matter LLC-issued iPad and iPhone.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Possibly serve as a consumer's team lead, overseeing goal plans and team meeting history forms during team meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to teach skills to individuals with disabilities.
  • High degree of sensitivity towards all people.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Basic to moderate technology skills, given the use of an iPad for the electronic medical record system.
Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of a Speech Language Pathology Program from an accredited university.
  • Eligibility for the Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities is beneficial.
Requirements
  • Lifting may be required for consumers with physical needs.
  • Verbal skills and listening ability are essential.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Basic iPad proficiency.
  • Reliable transportation.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000-$80,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
