Job Title: Solar Technician I

EDP Renewables is a global leader in the renewable energy sector, operating in over 25 markets worldwide. As a Solar Technician I, you will be responsible for the on-site operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment at one of our operating solar generation sites.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical and electrical component repair and replacement of parts to correct malfunctions in accordance with manufacturers' requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment, tools, and facilities for compliance with EDPR policies, governmental safety guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities in job processes and procedures and communicate through appropriate channels.
  • Act as a safety role model, encouraging and recognizing others for safe acts and intervening when unsafe acts are practiced.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals.
  • Work with and respond to EDPR's Remote Operations Control Center when necessary.
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures (SAP).
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in PV Solar or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Travel:

Up to 10%.

Behavioral Requirements:
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work around low- and medium-voltage equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks, including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Walking: Ability to walk 0.25 to 0.5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift items weighing between 60 and 100 pounds.
