About the Role
The Timken Company is seeking a skilled Mechanic - Assembly and Test Specialist for our Mokena, Illinois service center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, disassembly, inspection, and painting of enclosed drive gearboxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform labor activities in the assembly and test departments, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.
- Conduct disassembly and inspection of gearboxes to identify and address any issues or defects.
- Assemble and test gearboxes, verifying their performance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other facility teams, including Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering, to resolve assembly and test-related problems.
- Provide feedback to Engineering on assembly and test discrepancies, drawing errors, and quality issues to prevent reoccurrence.
- Emphasize and practice values that prioritize workplace safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.
- Develop relationships with peer groups to foster teamwork and unity of purpose.
Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, see, hear, and use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
- High school degree or equivalent and 0-2 years of experience.
