Overview

We are seeking an experienced OSP Designer for our Utility Design Engineering group in Tampa, FL. The UDE team works with industry-leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services.

The OSP designer will work on planning, designing, documenting, and permitting proposed new outside plant backbone, middle mile, and FTTx build-outs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with fielding tasks (engineering design notetaking for both aerial and underground, pole data collection, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of applicable building codes and design codes (NEC, NESC, etc.).
  • Review jurisdiction documentation and determine design parameters within Right-of-Way with parameters provided.
  • Identify basic components for site design in a Telecommunications fiber network.
  • Exhibit understanding of basic Telecom, Fiber-Outside Plant (OSP) design (FTTX, MDU, wiring diagrams, splicing schematics, equipment types, etc.) and design FTTX network with parameters provided.
  • Design/Draft Permit Drawings with minimal guidance.
  • Prepare specialty drawings (i.e., Utility Company submittals, Railroads, Interstate crossings, landmark designs, etc.) with parameters provided.
  • Design Fiber-Optic network (FTTx) using ArcGIS software, or client-designated software, with parameters provided.
