Role Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Step Down Unit is responsible for providing safe and effective patient care through established healthcare protocols. This role utilizes the nursing process within the scope of Registered Nursing to ensure high-quality care for patients at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement safety and risk management protocols
- Conduct thorough patient assessments
- Develop and document comprehensive care plans
- Deliver and manage patient care effectively
- Evaluate and adjust care plans as necessary
- Engage in staff development and training
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

- Contribute to unit, department, and hospital initiatives
- Participate in performance evaluations
- Uphold customer service standards
- Maintain a skills roster
Compensation within the specified range is influenced by various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials and bonus opportunities. Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening
- Background reference check completion
- Health evaluation, including TB screening
- Preferred one year of experience in pediatric and/or women's health
- Availability to work weekends and flexible scheduling
Education and Licensure:
- BSN required unless waived by nurse executive council review
- Current California Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Completion of unit orientation and competency validation
- Additional certifications required within six months of hire or transfer
