Role Overview:
As a vital member of the educational team, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the curriculum for the Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide training program. This role involves overseeing the coordination and management of clinical training sites.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement curriculum in accordance with state Department of Public Health guidelines, covering essential topics such as:
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Infection control practices
- Safety and emergency protocols
- Promoting resident independence
- Upholding patient rights
2. Prepare and maintain instructional materials and actively participate in periodic state reviews to ensure compliance with certification standards.
3. Emphasize the importance of equity in education by integrating best practices throughout all aspects of the role.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position, with opportunities for instruction during evenings and weekends, across various locations.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a current RN license in Massachusetts.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- At least one year of experience in long-term care services.
- Experience in lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student assessment in a healthcare context.
- Proven experience in supervising nursing aides.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with diverse adult learners.
- Familiarity with post-secondary education programs and a demonstrated ability to take initiative.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in teaching adult learners.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of the community college environment.
Additional Information:
- This is a part-time, non-benefited position within the Community Education department.
- Supervision will be provided by the Director of Community Education.
- Class hours will typically be scheduled from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, two evenings per week, including a clinical component.
Compensation:
- Hourly rate to be mutually agreed upon.
