Job Opportunity at Randolph-Macon College

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Biological Chemistry at Randolph-Macon College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory chemistry and upper-level biological chemistry electives, as well as contributing to the development of a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and develop curriculum for introductory chemistry and upper-level biological chemistry electives
  • Contribute to the development of a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) program
  • Engage in research with undergraduates and develop an externally funded research program
  • Advise students and serve the college and department
Requirements:
  • PhD in chemical biology, biological chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field
  • Preparation to teach introductory chemistry and upper-level biological chemistry electives
  • Research plan that will contribute to a biochemistry and molecular biology program
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds or a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated effectiveness or commitment to undergraduate teaching
  • Experience instructing undergraduates independently and/or as a TA
  • Postdoctoral or similar research experience
  • Research agenda suitable to undergraduate collaboration with potential for external funding
  • Demonstrated record of incorporating pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential
