Position Objective:
The Culinary Specialist is accountable for the quality of food components and the methods of preparation. This role involves creating essential food items and menu selections to fulfill catering requests based on client preferences. The Culinary Specialist is an integral part of the on-site team, providing production support for all orders and occasionally sourcing and preparing specialty items not included in standard specifications. Immediate action is required for all incoming orders, ensuring the delivery of high-quality menu items and recipes as directed by the General Manager and Kitchen Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in training and guiding both new and existing team members, ensuring that all food, packaging, labeling, and allergen information on trays are accurate and compliant with food safety standards.
- Assist in the butchering of meats and fish while supporting daily kitchen operations.
- Ensure that all food preparations and presentations adhere to company specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Implement preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment and encourage team members to do the same.
- Support ordering, inventory management, cleaning, grocery procurement, and any other tasks assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:
- A High School diploma is required.
- Current ServSafe Food Handling Certificate is required at hire or within 45 days of hire.
- Proficient knife and cutting skills are essential.

- Culinary experience in restaurants, hotels, or catering services is required, with a preference for familiarity with current culinary trends.

- Must possess energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong motivation to assist in food preparation and presentation.
Operational Requirements:
- Open availability to work weekends and holidays is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stoop, stand for extended periods, walk, read orders, and engage in discussions with coworkers.
- Frequently required to use hands for handling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and carrying items.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Language Proficiency:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to apply sound judgment to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
