Clinical Nursing Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Nursing Instructor to join our team at James Sprunt Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and teaching clinical rotations; evaluating student progress; supervising and evaluating nursing students in clinical activities; maintaining necessary records; and performing other job-related duties.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical instruction to Practical Nursing and/or Associate degree nursing students.
- Prepare for clinical experience by familiarizing yourself with unit policies, clients, and their needs, as well as student clinical outcomes.
- Provide orientation, assistance, and guidance to students during the clinical experience on the unit.
- Remain with assigned students throughout the entire clinical experience, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Coordinator or team member.
- Conduct pre- and post-conference with students according to course/clinical outcomes.
- Utilize approved assessment forms and clinical evaluation criteria/tools according to instructions given to provide continuity and consistency for the student.
- Complete evaluation tools for each student and schedule individual conferences at least mid-semester and at the end of each semester; evaluate students fairly on the basis of program criteria; share ongoing evaluation with students and Coordinator/team member timely and constructively.
- Makes suggestions to Course Coordinator regarding clinical experiences, outcomes, evaluation process, and other areas of interest and concern.
- Remain current in clinical and professional expertise through clinical practice, attendance at workshops/classes, and other activities.
- Attend faculty meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substances such as blood borne pathogens; continually undergo training and train students in such procedures.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations, reading and writing, communicating with others, operating assigned equipment, handling varied tasks simultaneously.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which include the following: standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment, preparing and presenting instructional material.
- Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of: making sound decisions, responding to questions, demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution with completion of a graduate nursing education program from a regionally accredited institution within three years of initial employment.
- Good communication and human relation skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- CPR certification required along with requirements of clinical agencies assigned.
- Graduate degree in Nursing Education from an accredited institution in addition to the other requirements listed above.
- Bilingual.
- Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
