Job Title: Senior Litigation Counsel

At American Credit Acceptance, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Litigation Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing strategic legal guidance and support to our business units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage high-volume consumer and commercial litigation cases in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration, across the U.S.
  • Oversee outside counsel to provide local assistance with litigation matters.
  • Resolve consumer and commercial disputes, including negotiating settlements.
  • Research and analyze federal and state laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and other relevant laws.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal business units on litigation matters.
  • Counsel internal business units on compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations.
  • Identify and recommend steps to contain costs and mitigate risk.
  • Coach and mentor Legal Analysts.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor or LLB degree.
  • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of consumer finance litigation experience, with a focus on credit cards, mortgage loans, and auto loans.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
  • Highly motivated and energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
