Position Summary
This role involves assessing patients and delivering tailored inpatient speech therapy interventions based on directives from medical professionals. The Speech Language Pathologist will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure patients transition smoothly to the most suitable post-acute or home care, aiming to meet individualized patient goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations and implement treatment plans to achieve patient-specific objectives.
- Monitor patient progress and suggest modifications to treatment strategies to enhance outcomes and ensure safety.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Contribute to the hospital's quality and safety initiatives by adhering to treatment guidelines.
- Tailor interactions to respect the unique needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring effective communication and consent.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the department and organization.
Education:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary; however, experience in a clinical or hospital environment is preferred.
Licensure and Certification:
Must possess a current Speech Pathologist license in the state of practice or be eligible for licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required. Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) must be obtained within two years of hire.

- Proficient in utilizing computer systems and software applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of conveying information clearly to various audiences.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, with the capacity to manage a range of patient conditions.
- Effective interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Willingness to travel between facilities as needed.
This position requires the ability to exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The role is physically demanding and may involve exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials typical in a healthcare setting.
