Job Summary

The US Navy is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Manager to join our team. As a Supply Corps Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success and safety of every mission by getting needed supplies, materials, and equipment to the right place at the right time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze demand for supplies and forecast future needs to optimize inventory management
  • Ensure timely receipt of parts and equipment for ship maintenance and repairs
  • Oversee retail services, logistics, and culinary operations to meet the needs of our Sailors
  • Manage the inspection, shipping, handling, and packaging of supplies and equipment
  • Direct personnel who receive inventory and issue supplies and equipment
  • Evaluate bids and proposals from potential suppliers to ensure the best value for the Navy
  • Maintain budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize space and distribution of supplies
  • Determine the most efficient and cost-effective methods for transporting cargo and personnel
  • Oversee the handling of special items such as medicine and explosives
Work Environment

As a Supply Corps Officer, you will work in a variety of settings, including offices, shore-based warehouses, air cargo terminals, and aboard ships and submarines. This diverse work environment will provide you with opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in inventory management, financial management, procurement, and warehouse management.

Training and Advancement

As a Supply Corps Officer, you will receive comprehensive training at Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI. Following OCS, you will attend Navy Supply School (27 weeks) in Newport, RI, for training in inventory management, food and retail operations, leadership, management, and problem-solving. Advanced training may also be available in areas such as transportation management, freight classifications, and special handling of medical goods and explosives.

Education Opportunities

The Navy offers a range of education opportunities to help you advance your career, including a Master of Science in Operations Research or one of four other defense management areas from The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), an MBA from approved Civilian Institutions (CIVINS), and the Navy College Program.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must be a U.S. citizen, be qualified for sea duty, and be willing to serve worldwide. A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement, and a graduate degree is preferred. You must also be able to pass a physical fitness test and meet the Navy's physical standards.

Part-Time Opportunities

As a Supply Corps Officer in the Navy Reserve, you'll have the flexibility to balance your civilian career with your military service.
