Job Description: Millwright (Sawmill Maintenance)
We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright to join our team and contribute to the smooth operation of our sawmill. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all machinery and equipment within our facility.
Responsibilities:- Install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment by interpreting blueprints and manuals.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to assess functionality and efficiency, identifying potential issues before they become major problems.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and management to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns, and develop strategies to enhance overall reliability and safety of plant operations.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns during both scheduled work hours and non-work hours to minimize downtime.
- Proven experience as a Millwright or in a similar role within an industrial setting, preferably in the forestry or wood products sector.
- In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and machinery operation and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for identifying and resolving complex mechanical issues.
- Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation, including blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills, with a commitment to precision and accuracy in all tasks.
- Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship program or an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology is highly preferred.
