As a Nursing Professional Development Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a key role in advancing professional nursing practice through education and development. This mid-level, experienced professional nursing and patient care services employee development role leverages the application of principles of adult learning in broad-based program development, implementation, and evaluation. You will identify, prioritize, and evaluate the educational and professional development needs of a clinical service line or entire medical center, developing and delivering clinical educational programs that meet the needs of nurses at all stages of their career development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver educational programs that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.
- Assess the needs of learners and identify outcomes that align with organizational goals.
- Apply principles of adult learning to advance professional nursing practice and improve patient care.
- Evaluate high-quality, culturally diverse instructional materials and adjust content and teaching strategies to meet learner needs.
- Identify individuals who do not meet established competency expectations and develop formal action plans to support their growth and development.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in nursing practice and nursing theory, developing programs to support those changes and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Maintain and advocate for up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Nursing and Healthcare Informatics, as well as new developments in hardware and software technology.
- Consult with staff and leadership on clinical expertise, providing information on current clinical practice and addressing clinical questions.
- Ensure optimization efforts are identified and implemented to support clinical decision making that supports high-quality and safe patient care.
Requirements:
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience coordinating or managing education programs/curriculum design, development, and evaluation/assessment.
- Minimum one (1) year in staff professional development and/or clinical training/teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum six (6) months of experience coordinating or managing education programs/curriculum design, development, and evaluation/assessment.
- Doctorate of Nursing Practice or PhD in related field.
- Must have L&D experience.
