Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Staff for Special Education to work closely with students with disabilities, providing them with the necessary physical and emotional support to succeed in our special education program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with disabilities, assisting them with daily tasks and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Assist students with physical needs, such as lifting, transferring, and ambulating.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 48 hours of approved college credit or an associate degree from an accredited school.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs preferred.
  • CPR training and First Aid certification required.
  • Completion of district-approved behavior management, safety, or de-escalation training within 120 days of employment.
  • Special Education Paraprofessional Training (3 days) and 6 hours of professional development yearly required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite, with bilingual skills in Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Adequate physical strength and mobility to implement strategies for de-escalation and emergency intervention.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
