Job Title: Assistant Pool Manager

Job Summary:

The City of Sacramento is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Pool Manager to join our team. As an Assistant Pool Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of all operations at an assigned aquatic facility. This includes supervising staff, maintaining the building, grounds, and equipment, and developing aquatic programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the supervision of staff, including lifeguards, instructors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain the building, grounds, and equipment, including swimming pools, water features, and surrounding areas.
  • Develop and implement aquatic programs, including swim lessons, recreational swim, swim team, lap swim, aquacise, Jr. Lifeguard, and pool rentals.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations, including lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR.
  • Collaborate with the Pool Manager to achieve facility goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Two seasons or 2.5 months of experience at an aquatic facility as a lifeguard.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aide/CPR and AED certification.
  • Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
  • Ability to perform swimming rescues, CPR, and first aid.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the public.
Working Conditions:

This position requires work to be performed various hours, including early morning, day, evenings, and weekends. The incumbent must be able to spend prolonged periods of time in the pool area and maintain the physical ability required to pass American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Selection Procedure:

Conditional Hire:

Upon receipt of a conditional offer, the selected candidate must complete and pass LiveScan/fingerprinting. If applicable, candidates may also need to pass a pre-employment medical exam, controlled substance and/or alcohol test, and possess any required licensure or certification prior to receiving a start date from the Department.
