Care Management and CDI Physician Advisor Job Summary
The Physician Advisor - Care Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement role at CHRISTUS Health is a unique opportunity for a physician to utilize their expertise in clinical practice and utilization review to lead the Utilization Review Committee and facilitate referrals to the continuum of care.
Responsibilities
• Participate in daily IDRs to expedite testing and treatment, promoting efficient patient care and appropriate LOC designation
• Provide guidance and assistance to Emergency Department Physicians and Care Management staff to ensure correct LOC designation at intake
• Liaise with payers to facilitate approvals and prevent denials or carved out days when appropriate
• Participate in review of long stay patients escalated from Care Management to facilitate the use of the most appropriate LOC
• Document patient care reviews, decisions, and other pertinent information per hospital policy
Requirements
Licensed physician in the state of residence, certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc (ABQUARP) preferred, with experience in clinical practice and understanding of utilization review.
