Position Overview: This role is situated within the Regional Laboratory/Clinic.

The Laboratory Technician - Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood samples for diagnostic testing from both inpatients and outpatients using either venipuncture or capillary puncture methods.

The Laboratory Technician/Phlebotomist also undertakes various administrative duties, which include operating the Laboratory Information System for the logging, receiving, and preparation of lab specimens for transport.

Administrative Responsibilities: These tasks encompass answering phone calls and providing essential information to inquiries, printing and attaching cumulative summaries and pathology reports to patient records, faxing results, and managing outpatient testing accessioning.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Formal training in phlebotomy through a Medical Assistant Program or a comparable hospital or military program can replace the requirement for a 6-week certified clinical training program.

The role requires proficiency in using computers, printers, and multi-line phone systems. Knowledge Requirements: A solid understanding of related tests for which blood is collected, the care of blood specimens, and the procedures involved in blood collection is essential.

Additionally, the candidate must be capable of performing various clerical and computer-related tasks and must communicate effectively with both professional staff and the public.

This is a full-time position.
