Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Invasive Cardiology Lab is responsible for planning, delivering, documenting, and evaluating patient care in alignment with individual needs, following provider orders and adhering to recognized nursing standards of care, techniques, procedures, and administrative policies. This role includes directing the activities of assigned nursing staff in providing care, observing, assessing, and reporting on patient conditions, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation that reflects the patient's status, treatment, and response to care. The nurse will uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (or one seeking accreditation). Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio. Current AHA Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Must have:
a.

A comprehensive understanding of nursing theory and practice, including foundational knowledge in biological, physical, psychosocial, and medical sciences and their applications.

b.

A thorough understanding of the use and maintenance of instruments, equipment, and supplies pertinent to nursing services or ambulatory medical practice.

c. A solid grasp of the principles of medical asepsis. d. The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues and medical staff. e. A high level of physical coordination and dexterity.


PRN and Float Staff must possess a minimum of one year or the number of years as determined by the specific clinical unit, with recent experience in the relevant clinical area.

All clinical nurses must achieve or acquire within the defined timeframe following placement into the position, all unit-specific competencies as outlined below:

The American Heart Association (AHA) courses are the required certifications for:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),
  • Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) course is the required certification for Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and relevant certifications

BMT:
Experience in step-down units

Operating Room:
One year of experience in the operating room; Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification

Post Procedure Care Unit:
One year of experience in PACU or critical care.

Psychiatry:
One year of psychiatric nursing experience

Radiology:
Five years of critical care experience. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Cardio-Pulm Rehab:
Two years of prior experience in Cardiac-Pulmonary Nursing (outpatient or inpatient).

Previous experience with the following:
smoking cessation, wellness, exercise in special populations (i.e., diabetes, obesity, arthritis).

Experience in TB Clinic Public Health or TB-related roles. Strong organizational and communication skills. Prior supervisory or project management experience.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the day. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Normal visual range with or without correction. Normal audio range with or without correction. Capability to lift weight with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
