We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Histologist to join our team at the Childrens Hospital of Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the supervisor in planning and organizing the operational aspects of the laboratory.

• Tissue Processing and Special Staining: Responsible for processing and staining tissues for histological examination, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to laboratory protocols.
• Microtomy and Embedding: Skilled in microtomy and embedding techniques, with the ability to prepare high-quality sections for histological examination.
• Frozen Sections and Specimen Preparation: Responsible for preparing specimens for review by Pathologists, ensuring timely and accurate results.

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a biological science, such as biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience: Two years of experience as a Histotechnologist, with a strong background in laboratory operations and histological techniques.
• Supervisory Experience: One year of supervisory experience preferred, with the ability to lead and manage a team of Histotechnologists.
• Licensures and Certifications: Registry with a national board of registry, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
