Job Summary:

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Legal Research Specialist to support our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, document preparation, and trial support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complex legal research and prepare draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege, and assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Act independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects, and serve as the primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff.
  • Support a variety of trial support activities, including travel and support in the courtroom.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization.
  • Requires a Law degree or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least two years of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience.
  • Must have at least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Benefits:

  • This position supports an SCA (Service Contract Act) contract, and the hourly wage is determined by the Department of Labor.
  • This position is classified as a Paralegals/Legal Assistant IV and is eligible for Health and Welfare.
