Discovery Librarian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Discovery Librarian to join our team at the University of California, Berkeley Library. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing user-centered discovery services, ensuring seamless access to the Library's collections for all users.

The Discovery Librarian will work closely with stakeholders across the Library to identify pain points and develop strategies to improve user experience. This will involve collaborating with the Head of Systems and Discovery Services to ensure that the Library's discovery platform, services, and tools are accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to the campus community.

• Design and implement user-centered discovery services to ensure seamless access to the Library's collections
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the Library to identify pain points and develop strategies to improve user experience
• Oversee configurations related to Discovery in Alma and troubleshoot issues reported by users and staff
• Develop and maintain an ongoing practice of usability testing with user populations to inform UI enhancements
• Integrate web accessibility best practices into user experience decisions and perform regular reviews to ensure compliance with ADA and WCAG requirements

• Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program
• Minimum of two years of experience working in an academic research library
• Experience with one or more library discovery platforms, such as Primo VE, Summon, EBSCO Discovery Service, WorldCat Discovery, etc.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix-based and shared decision-making environment
