Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as an Oncology Nurse Specialist on the 2 East unit. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patients' conditions and care needs, including psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of development of the adult and geriatric population, and provide age-appropriate care to patients served.

  • Able to interpret data about patients' status to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide necessary care.

  • Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management tools and techniques, and educate patients and families regarding pain management.

  • Develop and revise individualized plans of care based on assessment and patient response to treatment, involving patients and families in goal formulation.

  • Follow medication rights and reduce potential for medication errors, demonstrating knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.

  • Provide direct and indirect patient-centered care, coordinating patient care with interdisciplinary teams and communicating effectively with patients and families.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.

  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or within the new employee introductory orientation period, and maintenance of clinical competency during employment.
