Job Title: Registered Nurse I - Psych

Job Summary:

Join our team at Northern Light Acadia Hospital as a Registered Nurse I in our Psychiatric Unit - Pediatric. As a beginning professional caregiver, you will be responsible for the practice of nursing according to the Rules and Regulations defined in the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act, Northern Light Health Standards of Care/Practice, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and effective patient care by using best practices during hand-off communication and when reporting patient care information and appropriately asking for assistance from other staff.
  • Perform and document systematic assessments according to established criteria.
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal diagnostic data and report to appropriate provider.
  • Develop and maintain a professional and personable relationship and appearance with patients/ families and staff.
  • Treat patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Utilize theoretical knowledge base to operationalize care.
  • Documentation is accurate and complete reflecting adherence to hospital, regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Complete population-specific mandatory education competencies as defined by the unit-specific scope of service.
  • Provide culturally competent care to patients and families.
  • Provide patient-centered care.
  • Practice is consistent with Northern Light Health policy and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and all members of the interdisciplinary team, seeking assistance for conflict resolution as needed.
  • Implement the plan of care and identify resources to meet patient care needs.

Requirements:

  • Required Registered Nurse
  • High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)

Working Conditions:

  • Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
  • Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
