Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in the Cement Plant Operations department. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day preventive maintenance and repair activities for the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and supervise the work of maintenance crews to maintain equipment to meet production requirements.
- Oversee the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors to ensure completion in a timely and quality manner.
- Manage urgent or breakdown jobs to keep equipment running and minimize downtime.
- Provide development and motivation of direct reports to result in a reliable and competent workforce.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel to expedite problem resolution.
- Schedule, assign, plan, and monitor the work of maintenance shop personnel.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner to communicate anticipated jobs and provide input on stores stocks.
- Develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and prioritize mechanical expenditures to meet overall plant goals.
- Prepare material and labor estimates to develop project cost estimates and plant budgets.
- Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals.
- Maintain time, work order, material, equipment, and other mechanical shop records.
- Determine appropriate training for employees.
- Evaluate employee skills, abilities, safety practices, and behavior to maintain the necessary skills to perform their jobs.
- Plan the schedules of the staff, including assigning work and overtime as required to meet maintenance needs.
- Participate in the implementation of plant projects and provide input into the design and implementation of mechanical aspects.
- Ensure the application of plant rules of conduct, policies, and health & safety protocols during maintenance procedures.
- Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the on-call program.
- Ensure that Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained.
- Complete assigned work and be in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- 5 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including MS Excel and Word.
- Prior experience working with or interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements is a plus.
- Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces, and occasionally lifting to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to provide coverage during off-shift hours and weekends as required.
