Summary of Position

Sign-On Bonus of $3 for Certified Medical Assistants

Experience is not required.

Candidates must possess an active Medical Assistant Certification and be external applicants.

*A commitment of one year to Confluence Health is required.*

The Certified Medical Assistant will collaborate with healthcare providers and the medical team to deliver exceptional patient care and service. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: administering injections, measuring vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature), managing patient flow, preparing for patient visits, assisting during appointments, and handling post-visit tasks. The role may also involve front office duties, scheduling, and reporting test results as directed by the healthcare provider.

Reporting Structure: The position reports to the Practice Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients warmly and prepare them for examinations, ensuring a smooth patient flow in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Accurately record vital signs in accordance with departmental protocols within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Gather patient medical history and reasons for visits, ensuring complete and legally compliant documentation. Administer injections and medications as prescribed by the provider.
  • Assist in minor procedures and emergencies as directed by the provider or registered nurse within the scope of practice.
  • Schedule laboratory tests, x-rays, and other procedures as instructed by the provider, and guide patients through sample collection and testing processes.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, relay critical information to the provider, and provide follow-up care as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness of examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and restock supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Vaccination against COVID-19 is a mandatory requirement for employment at Confluence Health. Exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered upon request.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or currently enrolled in an externship program.
  • Active Medical Assistant Interim (IC) or Medical Assistant - Certified (CM) license through the Washington State Department of Health by the start date.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient care environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Work is conducted in patient examination rooms and may involve limited space. The role requires collaboration with others and may involve irregular hours and stressful situations. General supervision is provided by the Practice Manager, with additional guidance from healthcare providers.
