Job Summary:
As an Automotive Maintenance Technician, you will execute various mechanical tasks under minimal supervision. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilize hand tools to perform fundamental mechanical operations.
2. Effectively manage necessary computer applications related to daily operations, such as Microsoft Outlook and Maximo.
3. After receiving adequate training, conduct routine maintenance, including filter replacements and equipment inspections.
4. Carry out Federal Department of Transportation inspections.
5. Engage in miscellaneous utility tasks within the garage, such as cleaning and organization.
6. Disassemble vehicles and equipment for repair preparation.
7. Accurately complete work orders, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation and company record-keeping standards.
8. Assist qualified automotive mechanics and supervisors with various tasks.
9. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes for loading and unloading during fleet operations.
10. Order parts accurately and manage returns of unused or incorrect items.
11. Demonstrate the ability to operate vehicles and equipment to verify proper diagnostics and repairs.
12. Complete Hazard Assessments prior to undertaking any work.
13. Participate in monthly and weekly safety meetings.
14. Fulfill all mandated safety training requirements.
15. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, free from hazards.
16. Communicate effectively with Fleet Supervisors and local Line Supervisors.
17. Adhere to all Environmental, Safety, State, and Federal regulations.
18. Be prepared to work extended hours and potentially travel for storm-related duties.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of one year of experience in the automotive industry or possession of a relevant certificate or degree.
2. Supply personal hand tools for work up to 1" and 1⁄2" drive; specialty tools will be provided.
3. Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
4. Team-oriented with a willingness to collaborate with fellow mechanics and staff.
5. Obtain and maintain a DOT medical card within 90 days of employment.
6. Acquire a Class A CDL license within one year of turning 21 or from the hire date, depending on training availability.
7. Obtain air brake inspector certification within 90 days of employment, subject to training availability.
8. Familiarize yourself with the company's safety protocols related to the Automotive Hydraulic Mechanic role within 90 days of employment.
9. Know the location and operation of life-saving devices and firefighting equipment within 30 days of employment.
10. Commit to completing all industry certifications and manufacturer training relevant to the position.
Working Conditions:
As a key provider of essential services, you will be expected to work additional hours and in alternate locations as necessary, particularly during emergencies or outages.
