Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Math Teacher to join our team at West Bay Collaborative. As a Math Teacher - Special Education, you will be responsible for providing instruction to students with special needs in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with special educators and subject area teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans for students with special needs.
- Deliver high-quality instruction to students in grades 7-12, using a variety of teaching techniques and methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Work closely with educators and staff to develop and implement strategies to support students with social-emotional and mental health needs.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of individual behavioral programs and make data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
- Communicate regularly with students, staff, and families to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Provide support to students at-risk, helping them to develop coping strategies and conflict resolution skills.
- Participate in IEP and other meetings to present student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education/Program Administrator.
Requirements
- Certification or eligibility for certification in Secondary Math grades 7-12 from the Rhode Island Department of Education; additional certification in Special Education is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with multiple teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction to meet students' needs.
- Experience using technology to enhance student learning.
- Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and emergency procedures in a school environment.
- Training and competency in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or ability to successfully complete training upon being hired.
