About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Music Therapist to join our team at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. As a Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive music therapy assessment and treatment interventions for pediatric patients, siblings, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Music Therapy Sessions: Facilitate music therapy interventions and activities that are age and developmentally appropriate, implementing music therapy assessment and treatment interventions for pediatric patients and families.
  • Build Rapport and Trust: Build rapport and trust as part of patients' and families' therapeutic support system, providing siblings with opportunities to express their emotions and concerns.
  • Support Special Events: Support special music-related events, such as visiting artists, concerts, and workshops, and assist in managing patient-generated materials for Development/Donor Relations teams.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate all pertinent information learned through interaction with patients to the healthcare team, attending pertinent multi-disciplinary rounds and patient care conferences, and documenting and reporting clearly and concisely.
  • Develop Workshops and Events: Assist in developing workshops, special events, bedside sessions, and music groups for patient-generated works, engaging in HIPAA best practices for consenting patients/families to release patient-generated materials.
  • Train and Supervise Volunteers: Train and supervise weekly volunteers, maintaining music supplies, and fostering strong community and donor relationships in support of the Music Therapy Program.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience: None required.
  • License/Certification: Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to come up with creative ideas and activities, communicate effectively, conduct sessions to improve patients' mental and/or physical well-being, and use the Microsoft Office Suite of software applications.
