As a Registered Nurse on our K6 Trauma Spine unit at Mission Hospital, you will provide exceptional care to med-surg level patients with a primary focus on spinal post-ops and trauma cases. Our team works closely with other trauma units to ensure patients receive comprehensive care throughout their recovery journey.
Unit OverviewOur 44-bed unit specializes in providing care to patients with a range of medical conditions, including spinal injuries and trauma. We commonly treat victims of motor vehicle accidents, injuries from activities like hiking and biking, and elderly patients who have experienced falls.
Unit CultureOur close-knit team emphasizes teamwork and values personal connections. We enjoy frequent events celebrating birthdays, holidays, and special occasions, as well as fun activities like potlucks and group outings.
Nurse Staffing & SupportWe maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6 on day shift and 1:5 to 1:7 on night shift. Our support staff includes PTs, CNAs, and trauma nurse leads, who assist with patient care. Respiratory, physical, and occupational therapy teams are present daily to support patient mobility and discharge planning.
Innovative ProgramsWe are proud to be part of a pilot program for the virtual nurse program, aimed at enhancing patient care and efficiency. Virtual nurses assist with admission histories, medication reconciliation, and discharge processes, allowing bedside nurses to focus on direct patient care.

QualificationsTo be eligible for this role, you must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or be enrolled in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date. You must also have current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing and maintain certification in area of specialty.
