Position Overview
As a Senior Technical Engineer (API Designer), you will play a pivotal role in establishing the technical groundwork for our APIs. Your expertise will be essential in crafting intuitive and efficient schemas while architecting scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- API Schema Development:
- Engage with stakeholders to capture business requirements and convert them into precise API schemas.
- Design data models that are not only efficient but also consistent and optimized for high performance.
- Establish clear and detailed data types, properties, and interrelations.
- API Architecture Development:
- Design secure, scalable, and maintainable API infrastructures.
- Select suitable technologies and frameworks tailored to project specifications.
- Ensure efficient data flow and effective handling of API requests.
- API Design and Implementation:
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations for API designs.
- Contribute to the creation of robust and well-documented APIs.
- Promote best practices in API design and development.
- API Governance:
- Collaborate closely with the API product team to establish and enforce API governance policies.
- Stay updated on the latest API standards and industry trends.
- Continuously assess and enhance the existing API ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- 10 to 12 years of experience in the IT sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in defining and designing API schemas.
- Comprehensive understanding of API design principles (e.g., REST, GraphQL, JSON Schema).
- Strong knowledge of API architecture concepts (e.g., microservices, API gateways).
- Proficient in API development using robust programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, .Net).
- Familiarity with API testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience with API documentation platforms (e.g., Swagger, OpenAPI).
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- A strong passion for creating elegant, efficient, and user-friendly APIs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with API Management platforms (e.g., Apigee, APIM).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Contributions to open-source API initiatives.
