Position Overview:

The HCC Coding Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of coding practices within the USF Health organization. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough audits of both retrospective and concurrent medical provider documentation, ensuring adherence to Medicare guidelines.

• Evaluate clinical documentation to accurately assign and audit diagnosis codes.

• Identify opportunities for documentation enhancement and effectively communicate findings to healthcare providers and staff.

• Maintain professionalism and ethical standards while interacting with colleagues across the organization.

• Uphold integrity by adhering to stringent personal and professional conduct standards.

• Follow the Standards of Ethical Coding as established by the American Health Information Management Association and comply with official coding guidelines.

• Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA regulations, ensuring a commitment to the privacy, security, and confidentiality of all medical documentation.

• Exhibit reliability and maintain confidentiality in all job-related activities.

Qualifications:
  • Possession of CPC, COC, CCA, CCS, CRC, RHIA, or RHIT credentials.
  • A minimum of two years of coding and auditing experience, including at least one year of HCC Coding experience.
  • Advanced understanding of ICD-10-CM and working knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Active coding certification required through either AHIMA or AAPC, with CRC preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CMS guidelines related to risk adjustment and proficiency in HCC coding.
