Position Overview
Important Notice:
This announcement serves as a means to build a diverse pool of candidates for potential part-time roles within the Biology department at The College of Southern Nevada. Should a position open, the department will assess the applications of those who have submitted their materials and will invite selected individuals for interviews based on their qualifications. Please note that if chosen for a part-time instructor role, there is no assurance of a minimum teaching load, and assignments will depend on various factors, including student enrollment and departmental requirements. Additionally, travel expenses will not be reimbursed for candidates from local or distant areas, and there is no guarantee of ongoing or future part-time or full-time employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, introductory lectures and/or laboratory sessions in both Majors and Non-majors Biology.
- Create course outlines and instructional materials as per the directives of the Lead Faculty Member and/or Lab Coordinator.
- Assess student proficiency in the skills and competencies outlined in course objectives.
Required Qualifications for Lecture Instruction:
- A Master's degree in Biological Sciences or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience in teaching General Biology lectures.
- Proficiency in utilizing educational technologies, including Learning Management Systems and presentation software.
- Willingness to communicate via email for official correspondence.
Required Qualifications for Laboratory Instruction:
- A Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience in teaching General Biology labs or relevant laboratory experience.
- Proficiency in utilizing educational technologies, including Learning Management Systems and presentation software.
- Willingness to communicate via email for official correspondence.
Compensation:
The remuneration is set at $925.00 per lecture credit hour, with lab sessions compensated at $46.25. The number of credits may vary each semester.
