Role Summary
This position plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of glass and milled enamel powders utilized in cast iron products. Under the guidance of the Glass Production Supervisor, the technician will be responsible for executing tasks essential for the production of Kohler glass, including operating batching, melting, bagging, and environmental control systems. The technician will also prepare samples and conduct quality tests on both Kohler glass and raw materials to ensure compliance with Kohler standards. In the absence of direct supervision, the technician will oversee production operations and guide team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate critical process control machinery in alignment with established operating procedures.
- Prepare samples and utilize laboratory equipment to conduct quality assurance tests.
- Maintain accurate test records and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor and adjust environmental control systems, report anomalies, and assist with containment efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve standard equipment issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to address and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Identify potential solutions to process control challenges and communicate recommendations to management.
- Engage in departmental improvement initiatives focusing on safety, equipment reliability, operational costs, quality, and sustainability.
- Review and update standard operating procedures relevant to the role.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of workspaces, performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Coordinate the efforts of hourly associates to meet production goals in the absence of supervision.
- Maintain regular communication with peers, team members, engineers, and management.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical training from a recognized institution is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude are advantageous.
- Experience in a multitasking role is a plus.
The hourly compensation for this position is $30.45. The specific hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and work location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
