Schedule: 2nd Shift 5pm to 5am Mon thru Wed - Every other Thur

The Mold Processing Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing all operations within the mold room and machinery to ensure the production of high-quality components. This position reports directly to the Mold Room Supervisor and operates under moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all molds, auxiliary apparatus, and materials are correctly configured according to job specifications.
  • Manage the start-up and shut down procedures of Injection Molding Equipment.
  • Confirm that all operational processes remain within established parameters.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with injection molding machinery.
  • Address and resolve problems with auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct in-process inspections of molded components, including visual assessments and dimensional measurements to verify compliance with defined standards.
  • Generate necessary production, movement, and scrap records to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Clear scrap and waste from production areas.
  • Monitor tooling conditions and alert the tooling department when molds fail to produce quality components or require preventative maintenance.
  • Execute insert changes as needed.
  • Assist the Mold Setter in the setup of molds.
  • Act as the lead in the mold room.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with injection molding machine controls.
  • Understanding of material drying and blending processes.
  • Knowledge of Lockout / Tagout safety procedures.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, and measurement.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to identify potential safety risks.
  • Ability to recognize non-conforming materials and components.
  • Capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Skill in multitasking and demonstrating adaptability.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others.
  • Proficiency in training others.

Physical Requirements

  • Work primarily conducted on the manufacturing floor, where noise levels may vary, and hearing protection may be necessary.
  • Eye and foot protection may be required.
  • Regular lifting of weights up to 30 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 45 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Physical tasks may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and coordination of eye/hand/foot.
  • May involve prolonged periods of standing or sitting.

**This position is classified as Safety Sensitive**

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in plastic injection molding technician roles.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts is preferred.
