About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Seasonal Class A Delivery Driver to join our team at Scholastic Book Fairs. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering and picking up fairs in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with our supervisor to deliver and pick up fairs, ensuring timely and accurate completion of routes.
  • Inspect and prepare fifth wheel before coupling, and utilize semi-tractors with trailers to line haul fairs from branch facilities to hub locations.
  • Deliver fairs using semi-tractors with trailers, and couple and uncouple trailers safely and in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with our supervisor to ensure customer service standards are maintained, and effectively communicate routing problems to ensure changes can be communicated to the routing team.
  • Load and unload trucks with or without assistance of mechanical devices, and deliver and pick up product from schools as scheduled.
  • Secure and transport products to ensure customer satisfaction, and perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of motor vehicles.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and legible records, including DOT logs, trip sheets, fuel tickets, and other paperwork as required.
  • Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including DOT and OSHA guidelines.
  • Call our regional or branch office immediately in the event of an accident, problem with a school delivery or pick up, or mechanical failure of equipment.
  • Assist in completing warehouse tasks as required by our supervisor, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with schedule, and maintain a professional appearance, including well-groomed hair, clean uniform, and hygienic habits.
  • Attend monthly driver meetings, complete continuous training materials as required, and maintain a drug and alcohol-free policy compliance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Verifiable commercial driving experience of at least one year required.
  • Minimum of twenty-one years of age.
  • Possess valid CDL A license with air brake endorsement.
  • CDL A must be validated through recertification with an approved driving school.
  • Must pass a drug screen, alcohol screen, Motor Vehicle Record review, criminal background review, and a DOT physical examination indicating physical essential functions of job can be performed as required.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs. and push, pull, lift, and handle metal/plastic cases weighing more than 350lbs on a regular and repetitive basis.
  • Customer service orientated.
  • Ability to read road maps and follow directions.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Strong team player and ability to get along with co-workers.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
