College of the Redwoods is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor to join our Agriculture Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of lower-division agriculture courses, including horticulture and organic/sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach a full range of lower-division agriculture courses, including horticulture and organic/sustainable agriculture.
- Lead the Agriculture Department in serving our students and nurture relationships with local high school agriculture educators.
- Organize and participate in agriculture advisory committee meetings.
- Engage in institutional, program, degree, and course-level assessment.
- Participate in the College's shared governance process.
- Professional growth via development activities in the discipline.
- Involvement with agricultural student organizations and events.
- Positive interactions with students, colleagues, industry stakeholders, government agencies, media, and the general public.
- Master's in agriculture, agriculture science, or education with specialization in agriculture or a Bachelor's in any of the above and a Master's in agriculture business, natural resources, animal science, plant science, soil science, forestry, pomology, agriculture engineering, environmental horticulture, agronomy, enology, viticulture, or the equivalent.
- Experience with organic and sustainable farming practices.
- Familiarity with local region agriculture industry and greater California agriculture industry.
