Overview

Zoox is seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware Engineer to enhance our Vehicle Systems Engineering division. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of systems that facilitate vehicle communication across various radio technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough analysis of functional requirements and develop comprehensive specifications for intricate communication controllers.
  • Lead the integration of advanced 5G technologies tailored for autonomous vehicles.
  • Oversee the creation of proofs of concept and functional prototypes, collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Manage design and development initiatives across multiple suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of electromechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with test engineering, software developers, and supplier teams to design tests, perform failure analysis, and uphold quality standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers and quality assurance personnel to streamline production processes and achieve build targets.
  • Administer budgets, maintain bills of materials, document and approve manufacturing processes, and support quality and cost engineering throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, with a preference for automotive backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in RF technologies, including LTE, 5G, WiFi, among others.
  • Familiarity with FCC, PTCRB, and MNO certification processes and requirements.
  • Understanding of PCB design and production methodologies.
  • Experience in designing and working with embedded controllers.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing international supply chains, including onsite workshops and build audits.
  • Proven track record of guiding projects from concept to production within the automotive sector.
  • General proficiency with electronic tools such as soldering irons, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Bash, C++, and Python for controller interaction.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive compensation package, including salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this role is between $155,000 and $255,000, with potential sign-on bonuses. Compensation may vary based on geographic location and level of experience.
