We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Wentworth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc. as a Patient Care Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to our customers and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by our nursing assistants.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Care: Provide direct nursing care to customers, including administering medications, performing routine charting duties, and ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
- Supervision: Supervise and instruct nursing assistants on a number of topics to promote job knowledge and ensure all nursing procedures and protocols are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Leadership: Assume leadership roles and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, while also demonstrating interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public, while also possessing the ability to deal tactfully with difficult situations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and informative records of customer care, including charting nurses' notes and monthly summaries that reflect the care plan and is being followed.
- Licensure: Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
- Certifications: Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment.
- Education: Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, with a strong understanding of geriatric care.
- Skills: Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, work effectively with customers and personnel, and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday, with the ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, and customers in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
- Environmental Factors: Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position, while also being subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
