Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Medicine Specialist to join our team at Franciscan Health. As a key member of our Sports Medicine department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care and support to our athletes, ensuring their safety and well-being on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordination of Care: Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, parents, team physicians, and Sports Medicine Institute staff to ensure seamless care and treatment.
  • Athletic Injury Evaluation: Conduct thorough and accurate evaluations of athletic injuries, providing first aid and immediate care as needed.
  • Rehabilitation & Return To Play Programs: Develop, implement, and oversee effective rehabilitation and return-to-play programs for athletes, ensuring their safe and successful return to competition.
  • Patient Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all athletic injuries, referrals, and doctor's notes.
  • Training & Education: Participate in Franciscan Health's educational outreach programs, promoting injury prevention and conditioning programs to local schools, youth sports organizations, parents, and community groups.
  • Injury Prevention: Promote prevention of injuries through the recommendation of appropriate conditioning programs, monitoring environmental conditions, and maintaining protective equipment.
  • Injury Treatment: Treat injuries using evidence-based treatment modalities within the scope of athletic training certification and state practice act.
  • Patient Care: Work within established Sports Medicine and athlete care protocols, ensuring physician referrals, treatment, and return-to-play are handled efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation or Athletic Training.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification.
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer - Indiana Athletic Trainers Board or Illinois Dept of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) certification - American Heart Association.
