The Bellevue Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all people and property within our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Protect and serve patients, staff, and guests by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor hospital property to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, or complaints, and complete accurate and timely reports.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of buildings and grounds, and ensure that life safety equipment is functioning properly.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and respond to designated emergency codes.
- Provide escorts to and from the helipad during emergency air transfers.
- Operate access control systems, administer breath alcohol tests, and perform searches to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles.
- Warn individuals of rule infractions or violations, and evict violators from premises when necessary.
- Provide personnel assistance and first aid to others.
- High school graduate or equivalent required; prior security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.
- IAHSS Basic Certification required upon hire, with re-certification every 5 years.
- FEMA certifications in ICS100, 200, 700 required upon hire, with re-certification every 5 years.
- BAT and DOT PSC certifications required within 3 months of hire, with re-certification every 5 years.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire, with re-certification every 2 years.
- Non-violent crisis intervention certification required upon hire, within 6 months of hire.
- Training in Use of Force, including handcuffing, turtle shield, and defensive tactics, required within 6 months of hire.
- Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurability under The Bellevue Hospital's auto policy required.
- Mobile phone and reliable transportation required.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, observation skills, verbal and written communication skills, and proven dependability and consistency required.
- Punctual attendance and ability to work with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, maintain an accident-free work place, and demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and background check, and possess the physical ability to walk long distances, perform in inclement weather, travel between multiple facilities, run for brief distances, and provide physical intervention when necessary.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standards, and utilize proper personal protective equipment required.
- Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
- Moderate to severe crisis intervention skills required.
- Public speaking and organization skills required.
