About the Project:

ALPA Construction is excited to spearhead the design and management of the Chicago Sky (WNBA) Practice Facility in Bedford Park, IL. This impressive $38 million, 130,000 square foot facility includes over 40,000 square feet of exclusive, cutting-edge space for the Chicago Sky players and staff. Collaborating with The Village of Bedford Park, The Chicago Sky, and The Concord Group, we are committed to delivering a project that not only meets exceptional standards but also promotes the advancement of women in sports.

Role Overview:

ALPA Construction is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Project Engineer to enhance our Chicago operations. This position is perfect for individuals eager to contribute to impactful projects that benefit the community, such as the Chicago Sky Practice Facility. As an essential member of the team, you will collaborate closely with senior project managers and assistant project managers to ensure the successful execution of this landmark project.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Submittal Review Expertise: Take charge of reviewing and processing submittals, guaranteeing that all materials, equipment, and workmanship align with project specifications and high-quality benchmarks. This includes creating and managing a detailed submittal log and procurement log, ensuring that all technical data, material samples, and product specifications are thoroughly vetted and accurate information is preserved. You will also oversee the timely submission of all items to maintain project schedules.
  2. Project Oversight: Uphold stringent quality standards and ensure timely project completion through effective oversight and coordination.
  3. Schedule & Documentation Management: Organize and meticulously manage project schedules, meetings, and documentation to keep the project on course.
  4. Change Orders & Documentation: Supervise change orders, building permits, submittals, and other vital project documents, ensuring precision and compliance.
  5. Site Inspections: Conduct thorough on-site inspections to track progress and confirm adherence to project standards.
  6. Client Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for clients during the construction phase, managing contractor interactions and ensuring all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  7. Project Strategy Implementation: Balance self-performance and outsourcing to achieve project cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  8. Support in Problem-Solving: Assist the Senior Project Engineer in addressing challenges and making technical decisions, providing crucial support for optimal project outcomes.
  9. Subcontractor Meetings: Organize and facilitate meetings with subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and coordination among all parties involved in the project.
  10. Meeting Minutes Management: Create, maintain, and distribute minutes for all office-based meetings, accurately documenting discussions, decisions, and action items to keep all stakeholders informed.
  11. Technology Proficiency: Utilize construction management platforms, such as PROCORE, to enhance project efficiency.
  12. Project Closeout: Play a critical role in project establishment and closeout, ensuring all processes are completed seamlessly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
  2. EIT certification, working towards PE license.
  3. 3-5 years of experience in construction engineering, preferably with exposure to public projects.
  4. Proficiency in Procore, CAD, and basic engineering analysis tools.
  5. Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and engineering principles.
  6. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
