Therapy Specialist

This role involves the evaluation and treatment of inpatient hospital and rehabilitation patients, adhering to licensure standards. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will identify patient goals, barriers to discharge, and ongoing physical therapy services. You will center care around the patient, exercising independent judgment in planning and organizing the plan of care.
Responsibilities:- Orient patients, family members, or other relevant parties to therapy purposes and procedures, providing education on patient needs and family support.
- Collect and document patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial care plans, ensuring compliance with chart review standards.
- Select and perform evaluation and treatment methods tailored to patient age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders, accurately documenting progress.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with disciplines, participating in the development and accurate documentation of discharge plans in inpatient settings.
- Monitor patient condition changes, taking appropriate actions as evidenced by reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
- Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to develop and accurately document discharge plans.
- Analyze program effectiveness and outcomes, implementing new programs and initiatives as needed.
- Conduct pain assessments and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
- Perform additional duties assigned or required to meet departmental/organizational needs.
- Prior to start date: Physical Therapist certification from the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy.
- Prior to start date: A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Within 90 days of start date: Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment at Altru Health, requiring frequent standing, walking, and sitting. The role demands continuous handling, seeing, and hearing, with occasional crawling and squatting. Weight demands include lifting up to 40 pounds, carrying, pushing/pulling, and sliding/transfering. The work is predominantly indoor, with rare outdoor activities and no extreme temperature exposure.
Driving Requirements:This role is classified as an Occasional Driver, meaning the employee may be required to drive from time to time but not daily. This position requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
