Purpose

As a key member of the Bayer team, you will play a critical role in ensuring patient access to our oncology products within assigned geographical areas. Your primary responsibility will be to support healthcare providers and office staff in navigating therapy prior authorizations, medical necessity documentation, and therapy denial appeals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop collaborative working partnerships with healthcare providers and office staff to support patient access to therapies.
  • Work with medical practice therapy decision makers, practice clinical administrators, and key office support staff to assist with health plan/PBM therapy approval requests.
  • Collaborate with the Bayer Patient Support Services Team, Market Access Field Teams, Bayer AGMs, SCs, and MSLs to execute reimbursement and access programs and reduce access and affordability hurdles for patients on Bayer oncology products.
  • Stay current with local MAC policies and procedures.
  • Proactively educate and support prior authorization processes, appeals, and denials.
  • Utilize CoverMyMeds portal access experience to facilitate prior authorization processes.
  • Proactively educate on Access Services by Bayer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with prior experience educating providers.
  • Collaborate across multiple stakeholders to resolve issues and escalations.
  • Proven experience in flexibility and adaptability in territory management.
  • Ability to engage and navigate healthcare providers in various settings, including hospitals, private practice, large multi-specialty practices, IDNs, IDN outpatient clinics, and other facilities.
  • Initiative-taking business acumen to identify and resolve healthcare provider/office staff issues/challenges with Payer/PBM therapy approvals.
  • New product/indications launch experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record/MVR.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Experience educating and/or supporting pharmacies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years healthcare-related reimbursement experience.
  • 2+ years field reimbursement experience.
  • In-depth understanding of Payer/PBM therapy approval requirements (prior authorization, medical necessity, denial appeals, formulary coverage, and payment for oncology therapies across all sites of care).
  • Broad knowledge of Medicare, managed care, third-party payers, and Medicaid.
  • Demonstrated excellence in meeting and exceeding customer expectations, especially in demanding situations.
  • Ability to effectively address customer concerns in a timely fashion and work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Elevated level of sophistication/people skills needed to interact with practice clinical decision makers, office support staff, clinical pharmacists, and office managers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of customer relations, therapy formulary coverage, utilization management, and ability to interpret complex information.
  • Leadership ability to effectively organize, communicate, and collaborate with healthcare providers, key practice staff, and Bayer external and internal team members.
  • Exceptional knowledge of healthcare management.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
  • Area reimbursement managers will cover multiple regions, with significant overnight travel up to 50%.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record/MVR.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years oncology field reimbursement experience.
  • Experience in oncology and working with key oncology stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $157,800.00 to $236,000.00, with additional compensation including a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.

This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
