Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fosters a welcoming environment focused on delivering prompt and friendly customer service.
  • Guides customers with product recommendations, fulfilling special requests, and offering food preparation advice.
  • Utilizes suggestive selling techniques through various communication channels including phone, intercom, and direct interactions.
  • Adheres to operational procedures and production processes to enhance profitability.
  • Responsible for washing and processing fresh seafood.
  • Prepares, cuts, wraps, and displays meat, seafood, and poultry, ensuring appealing presentations while managing product rotation and cleanliness.
  • Weighs, wraps, and prices items at the Butcher Block, ensuring quality and freshness to meet customer needs.
  • Prepares seafood salads and food samples, including steaming fish products.
  • Creates and maintains effective promotional displays, potentially overseeing the meat cooler and freezer operations.
  • Maintains department standards for handling quick sale items.
  • Monitors temperature control throughout all stages of seafood and meat handling.
  • Possesses specific knowledge of departmental responsibilities.
  • Assists with packaged meat operations.
  • Understands and executes opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Familiar with company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Ensures compliance with product code dating within the department.
  • May participate in physical inventory assessments conducted every four weeks.
  • Manages inventory to guarantee product quality and availability, adhering to division guidelines.
  • Minimizes product shrinkage.
  • Employs proper product preparation techniques.
  • Operates necessary equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and various cutting tools.
  • Completes and maintains daily logs, including production and temperature records.
  • Handles receiving duties, including verifying orders and inspecting product quality.
  • Ensures compliance with temperature and storage guidelines, as well as proper packaging techniques.
  • Follows all safety regulations and maintains cleanliness in the work area.
  • Adheres to grooming standards and dress code policies.
  • Commits to performing all responsibilities with accuracy and integrity.
  • Other essential duties as required.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining professionalism with customers and colleagues.
  • Understanding of company practices and Meat Department policies.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 80 lbs, with frequent bending and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity and good coordination are essential; must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Mental alertness is necessary for safe and accurate task completion.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of product handling and sanitation standards are required.
  • Experience operating relevant equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Awareness of potential hazards associated with equipment and work aids.
