**Job Description:**

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare.

This is a full-time days nursing position with an estimated annual salary of $120,000.

About the Role:

The Clinical Research Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. They adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and comply with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

The Clinical Research Nurse is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates clinical research knowledge, has strong communication skills, and serves as a liaison between Northwestern University clinical research investigator teams and Northwestern Medical Group.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates and coordinates study protocols with research staff according to Good Clinical Practice, standard operating procedures, nursing practices, and sponsor requirements.
  • Provides direct nursing patient care, including diagnosis, medication administration, and clinical assessment of study subjects under the principal investigator’s direction.
  • Monitors budget and systems issues to implement protocols effectively.
  • Attends investigator meetings, pre-study site visits, and study-related visits by Monitors or Sponsor representatives.
  • Arranges for external vendor procedures and visits.
  • Schedules and leads protocol meetings to review procedures, staffing, and visit flow.
  • Coordinates medical needs and coverage for protocol procedures.
  • Documents study-related communication with the principal investigator, study subjects, Sponsor, and IRB.
  • Provides subject instructions for study participation and handles study-specific questions and concerns.
  • Ensures protocol procedures are completed according to study requirements.
  • Documents adverse event data and reports to the appropriate parties.
  • Ensures quality and completeness of source documents and accurate data entry into CRFs.
  • Assists with study-related visits, corrections, and site needs.
  • Supervises document retention, security, and destruction.
  • Completes necessary training, including study protocol-specific training.
  • Trains other research staff in data collection and reporting.
  • Maintains research files, designs forms, reports findings, and assists with IRB submissions.
  • Travels between hospital locations for research.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
  • Two years of experience in managing clinical research trials, with in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements and Good Clinical Practice.
  • Intermediate computer and internet knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service and patient care skills.
  • Meticulous organizational skills.
  • Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication abilities.
