Ophthalmology Nurse Specialist

As an Ophthalmology RN at American Vision Partners, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in our fast-paced, high-volume environment. Your strong attention to detail and ability to multitask will be essential in ensuring a safe and efficient experience for all patients in our Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC).
Responsibilities
• Greet and admit patients to the pre-/post-operative area
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process, taking into account individual patient needs
• Prepare the operating suite for patients, monitoring cleanliness, assembling supplies, instruments, and sutures, and checking equipment for proper functioning
• Assess patients' conditions on arrival in surgery and provide physical or emotional support as needed
• Assist the Anesthesia Provider and Surgeon during procedures, maintaining constant awareness of the operative situation and a safe environment for patients and personnel
• Evaluate, observe, and treat patients under local anesthesia
• Maintain accurate and complete records of patients' surgical experiences
• Start IVs, administer medications, and prepare drugs and solutions per physician protocols
• Prepare for and manage immediate postoperative care, including transporting patients to the recovery room, communicating patient needs, and providing patient and family training
• Assist in the orientation of new team members and cross-training of existing personnel
• Obtain patient histories through interviews and evaluations, noting data in charts and sharing pertinent information with physicians
Qualifications
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred
• Current Arizona RN License
• 1-year Ophthalmology experience as a Surgery RN is a plus
• BLS certification required
• ASC experience preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• This is a Safety Sensitive position
